The 1849-50 Morphy Cooke chess set by “Staunton Castle”.

What they did…

This chess set is a reproduction of one of the early Jaques sets used in famous tournaments from 1849-1850, featuring the iconic Cooke-style knight head. The original design, with a king size of 3.5″, was one of the most recognized chess sets in the early 19th century. Selected from the prestigious Jon Crumiller chess collection, this design has been meticulously recreated due to high demand from collectors.

My opinion of this design…

I truly believe that this reproduction is as good as it gets with today’s modern techniques and artisans. If you’re looking for a high-quality set at a great price, this is one of the best opportunities out there. I love playing with this set, and the reactions I get when people see it in action are always a delight. The compliments I receive are endless, making this one of my favorite modern sets for sure.
